On the First Day of Christmas, my true love gave to meeeeeeeeee

One Super Sweet and Awesome Tradition!!!

IMG_1051[1]Every year, Elizabeth and I make a killer gingerbread house. This year’s wasn’t as wild as the two-story pumpkin farm/ice-skating rink we made last Christmas, but this house fit in so perfectly with our little Scrooge village! I can’t believe the countdown is over and that CHRISTMAS is tomorrow! I pray you all have a wonderful and very Merry Christmas, and don’t forget the Reason for the season. And, as always, remember to laugh and smile! Merry Christmas!

Two Lighted Trees!

Liz’s beautiful white bulbed tree and Katie’s and my even teensier colored tree deserved a little spotlight before Christmas. We’ve enjoyed decorating these trees with old and new ornaments and decorations. Looking at these little fellas for a month makes me wonder why we ever pack them up. Nothing like a little faux tree Christmas cheer!

My Eight Most Favorite Christmas Movies!!!!!

most wonderfulI have watched this movie with my family four times since November 1, and my sisters, Katie and Elizabeth, have watched it with me another seven. The movie is hysterical, Henry Winkler (the Fonz, people!) stars in it, and Morgan has this insanely awesome beard and great sense of humor. Oh, and he cooks and wears a vest. Need I say more?

love at 2Love at the Christmas table (bottom and right) is adorable and insanely funny, and it completely reminds me of Christmas at the kids table and how awesome it was. . . . Although we didn’t have anyone who looked like THIS attend. . . .

love atNo words necessary for White Christmas, nor A Christmas Story.

sundaysSunday’s at Tiffany’s is one of my favorites! I originally watched it because our leading man was RJ from Wildfire (he was a bull rider, and yes, he was as awesome as that sounds), but the movie ended up being really endearing and hysterical. The beginning just rips your heart out, though, but in a good way. . . Okay, that was a little contradictory, but you catch my drift.

Undercover Christmas is crazy and hysterical and just plain fun.

a very merryOne word: DYLAN! His freaky hats and duck sweater are what make A Very Merry Daught of the Bride so fantastic. This movie is quirky and fun and always brightens my mood.

Arise, Beloved!

Published August 7, 2012 by Ashley Townsend

Poem time again! I was sitting in church with my family and we were singing “We’re the People of God,” and I just started to doodle some of the lyrics. Then I added a little here and there without really thinking about it, brought my pathetically confused little scribbles back home, and spent the afternoon singing and mulling possible next lines over and over until this came about. Even though I love to read and write poetry, I am far from skilled at it, so once again, bear with me! But I thought today might as well be a good enough day to share this with you all. Oh! And Friday I’ll have my favorite books of all time up here to inspire some more reading fun. Brace yourselves for further Reading Extravaganzas and stay tuned for Friday!

 Arise, Beloved!

I have called you by name

I fought back the darkness

That clothed you in shame

With the sword of truth

I battled those lies

To show you your worth

I have fought for and loved you

Even before your birth

Come to life, O’ Precious One!

See what I have in store for you

You have been ransomed by love

And washed in words of truth

I do not lie like flesh and bone

I profess over you only what’s true

My love, my heart, my home

Be still, Beautiful Child!

Know that I am True Love

Can any of those whose love you seek

Compare to that of the One Above?

They see you as their eyes perceive

But in My eyes I see the one you were meant to be

All of your faults and falters are plain to me

Even more so than what others can find

But a child cherished by the Holy One

Is your portrait in my mind

Take heart, Sweet Treasure!

My love is everlasting

It never falters or fades

It is not favoring

Since before your conception

I knew you by name

And the truth is, the sweetest reception

Was the joy you felt over being so changed

Be patient, Everlasting Soul!

Your name has been written since the beginning

So enjoy this life and have faith that

You will live forever with Me beyond this world’s ending

I have clothed you in white

So you will not just see it

But can at last embrace the Light

Arise, Beloved!

As the sun ascends toward the heavens

So shall you be lifted into eternal light

Because I have promised, it is so

And you are one of the few chosen lambs

For whom My Love will always grow
